At 1527, the Camden-Wyoming Fire Company was dispatched for wires down at 331 Oak Point School Road. Firefighter John Wothers arrived on scene at 1534 and found a tree into the high power line that had started a woods fire. The fire had consumed roughly a half an acre of land. FF Wothers established Oak Point School Road command and requested station 41 to respond with the brush truck and engine. Command had engine 41-4 pull a booster line and start extinguishment while the crew from 41-8 used rakes and beaters to put out the host spots. Command advised Kent Center to have DEC respond priority one for the tree into the wires. Command placed the incident under control at 1553. Two minutes later, Kent Center advised command of a second emergency at 4110 S DuPont Highway for a mulch fire. Command had 41-0 divert to the second alarm and had Kent Center contact the station to have an engine respond. All units cleared Oak Point School Road at 1622 with engine 41-4, utility 41-8, and DSFP on scene. Engine 41-3 arrived at the Applebee’s at 1602 for the second alarm and found a small mulch pile on fire in the parking lot. Crews extinguished the fire and 41-16 (Rigsby) placed the situation under control at 1604. All units cleared the call at 1610 with engine 41-3 being the only unit on scene. As crews were getting the apparatus back in order, they were dispatched to 162 Greenview Avenue for a working house fire at 1622. Engine 41-1 arrived on scene at 1627 and firefighter Brandon Olenik established command. The winds had blown a tree limb into the power line that connects to the house. The homeowner said she heard a popping sound and her cable box started smoking. She used a dry chemical extinguisher on the cable box and called 911. Crews searched the residence for any other sign of fire and found no results. Command placed the situation under control at 1634. All units cleared the call at 1642 with engines 41-1, 41-3; rescue 41-6, ambulance B41, and DSFP on the scene. Crews had no more back into the station when the next alarm came in. At 1644, they were dispatched to the corner of Hazletteville Road and Bryants Corner Road for wires down. Engine 41-3, utility 41-8, and brush 41-0 made the response. During the response, Kent Center advised all units that this was in station 51’s (Hartly) district. Command 51 and engine 51-5 were clearing a mulch fire at the Royal Farms on route 8 and made the response. Command 51 and utility 41-8 arrived on scene at 1653 and command 51 reduced the assignment to 51 units. All 41 units cleared the call at 1705.
